Guidelines & Expectations
Players

Give 100% to your coach, team, and yourself; in practices and games.

Work on fundamentals everyday - dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork, defending and rebounding. This will make you a better player and should be worked on outside of practices and games.

Be on time to practices and games. PLEASE NOTE: If for some reason a player is unable to attend a practice or game, we expect the player or parent/guardian to notify the coaches at least a day before the practice or game.

Be attentive, respectful and accountable in practice and games; listening to your coach and teammates.

Communicate directly and respectfully with your coach.

Always display a positive attitude on and off the court; this includes your body language.

Cheer on your teammates when you're on the court, on the bench and at practice.

Be respectful of coaches, officials, opponents and their fans; display good sportsmanship.

Learn from mistakes and remain positive when receiving instruction and feedback from your coach, officials or teammates.

Work hard off the court.

School is your priority. Study hard and keep up with homework.

Stay out of trouble - make good choices at school, home and in public.

Remember that you represent your family, community and the West Academy family at all times.

Parents/Guardians

Fully support the coach and coaching staff throughout this season. Do not coach from the sidelines, question the coach's decisions, complain about playing time, or display any other negative actions that could affect the development of not only their Student-Athlete, but the rest of the team.

Be aware that you represent the entire West Academy Organization as does your Student-Athlete. Be respectful during games and let the coaches handle the referees and any on the court situations.

Follow the chain of command with any problems that may occur and respect the 24hr rule (i.e., if you have a problem with a decision the coach(es) have made or your Student-Athlete's playing time, you will wait 24hrs before contacting the coach(es).

Abide by these expectations & guidelines and make sure that your Student-Athlete abides by theirs.
